A Study on Recent Advancements and Innovations in Convolutional Neural Network

Ishu Chaudhary, Bhanu Prakash Lohani · 2024

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have revolutionized deep learning, particularly in computer vision and image recognition tasks. Recent advancements have further enhanced their capabilities and efficiency. These include the development of attention mechanisms, which allow CNNs to focus on relevant image regions, improving performance on complex tasks. Transfer learning techniques have enabled CNNs to leverage knowledge from pre-trained models, reducing data requirements and training time. Additionally, architecture innovations like Neural Network Search, Generative Adversial Network have optimized model scaling, achieving state-of-the-art accuracy with fewer parameters. Emerging research in self-supervised learning has shown promise in training CNNs with limited labelled data. These advancements collectively push the boundaries of CNN applications in areas such as medical imaging, autonomous vehicles, automatic vehicles and facial recognition. This paper elaborates the concept of different CNN methods with their working and implementation in different fields.
