Creating a Hyperledger Fabric Network Blockchain to Securely Store Sensitive Renewable Energy Management Data

Krisztián Bálint · 2024

By using renewable energy sources, the harmful effects on our environment can be reduced. However, this technology is still in the process of huge development, as new renewable energy solutions appear every year, and their efficiency is constantly increasing. The research goal of the paper is to examine in detail the possibility of a permissioned Hyperledger Fabric structure to store sensitive energy management data in the blockchain to prevent unauthorized persons from connecting to the micro grid, accessing the data of peer entities, and cannot be modified without authorization. As part of the practical realization, a Hyperledger Fabric permissioned network will be created, which can safely handle the data of the sensitive energy management system, due to its structure based on blockchain technology. As part of the empirical research, the point of view of university students in Serbia and Hungary was explored about the Energy Management system, which is stored through the Hyperledger Fabric network. The survey is necessary because, in the future, it is assumed that the current generation of students will be the users of this type of system and its widespread users. The research revealed that secure data storage and an efficient green energy management system are indeed important for university students in both countries, as these are forward-looking solutions for the current generation of students.
