Smart technologies with the help of internet add an essence of ubiquity to things as well make the world smaller than ever. Cyber technologies have made the data transfer, exchange and access easier even though being anywhere in the world. With the comfort and ease to the lives in society, advanced and cyber technologies have opened new approaches for the criminals to threaten the society. Darknet among the all other web is non-indexed and encrypted by non-standard protocols that makes it anonymous. An anonymity of darknet has attracted the cyber criminals and has given a swiftness to the cybercrime. To cope up with the raise in the cybercrime, advancement in the cyber security has become a necessity. It is crucial to detect the malicious traffic to avoid cyber traps. This paper gives the review of darknet crime and activities ongoing on darknet and cybercrime activities. A review of cyber security measures and techniques against cyber-crime has been provided in this article. The challenges and trends in the cyber security and intrusion detection have been discussed in this paper.
