A Robust Approach to Improve Image Security through 3D Chaotic Scrambling

Saswati Pati, Minati Mishra, Jayanti Rout · 2024

Nowadays, one of the major problems in daily life is doubtless information security. It is quite difficult to ensure the security of information. Data transfer, processing, and storage through insecure channels have increased drastically because of the progress in multimedia technology. Hence, the primary focus nowadays is to safeguard information from unauthorized users. This paper presents a novel image scrambling model that encrypts an image using a 3D chaotic map and a Latin square matrix. The method is comprised of three stages. First, the 3D-original image is scrambled using a $3 \times 3$ Fibonacci-Lucas map. The scrambled image is added to a Latin square of equal dimension, and then the resultant image is re-scrambled with another $3 \times 3$ chaotic map. The experimental findings and the security reviews prove that the proposed model is resistant to differential, statistical, brute-force, cropping, and noise attacks.
