Parameter Changes of Low-Voltage Varistors Due to Pulse Stresses
Ralph Brocke, Th. Göhlsch, F. Noack, F. Schmidt, Peter Zahlmann · 1995
Low-voltage metal oxide varistors change their characteristic due to pulse stresses if load limits are exceeded. A small number of high energy pulses and also a great number of steep pulses with relatively small energy can lead to irreversible degradations or to the destruction of the varistor. The influence of the most important stress factors (pulse energy, pulse current, pulse steepness, number of pulses) on the degradation is described.
