Exploring Dialogue Capabilities with Automation Systems in the AAM Ecosystem

Sueun Bae, Jeongseok Kim · 2024

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is the result of advanced technology and requires the ongoing development of autonomous flying and traffic management automation. Applying the analog reporting systems of traditional aviation to AAM would pose significant challenges in achieving efficiency and profitability. The reason for this is because AAM operations necessitate a significant number of personnel, specific training, adaptability to urban environmental changes, and the ability to handle frequent operations. This research aims to tackle these problems by presenting a hybrid automation solution specifically tailored to overcome them. The automation system consists of a safety-focused inference engine designed to adhere to laws and avoid the spread of incorrect information. Additionally, it includes a natural language processing-based dialogue interface designed for diverse stakeholders in the AAM ecosystem. This system aims to investigate the possibility of automating AAM procedures. Proposed future user experiments aim to evaluate enhancements in time and labor efficiency, along with error reduction, with the objective of formulating a comprehensive automation approach for AAM operations. Keywords—Dialogue Interfaces, User-Centered Design, Stakeholder Interaction
