To address the challenges raised by an increasingly decentralized electricity production and the integration of emerging technologies such as EV charging, French DSO Enedis developed the CAPTEN methodology. This approach streamlines the estimation of network hosting capacities in electricity distribution networks by using a fast and simplified load flow method along with linear approximations, reducing calculation time while maintaining accuracy. CAPTEN provides local authorities with a map of hosting capacities, facilitating the identification of optimal locations for plugging new loads. Furthermore, it features a multiple load integration simulator, allowing users to integrate new loads into the network with the hosting capacities map updating accordingly. Building upon CAPTEN's foundation, this paper introduces CEDRE, an innovative tool designed to enhance impact studies for network planning at Enedis. CEDRE efficiently simulates the massive integration of new electrical applications into low voltage networks, swiftly identifying and assessing network constraints. This advancement enables rapid estimation of necessary network reinforcements and associated costs, offering a pragmatic solution for comprehensive network planning amidst evolving electric utilization patterns.
