Mei Zi Jin, Jajoon Koo · Korea Institute of Design Research Society · 2024

This study aims to analyze the impact of the experiential characteristics of Chinese cultural heritage online VR museums on visitor satisfaction. With the advancement of digital technology, online museums have emerged as an innovative way to provide cultural experiences beyond the constraints of time and space. The study identifies four key characteristics of online VR museum experiences: realism, immersion, interactivity, and ease of use. Based on these dimensions, three online VR museum cases from China were examined. Additionally, empirical analysis was conducted using multiple regression analysis on survey data collected from 211 respondents. The results indicate that all four characteristics — realism, immersion, interactivity, and ease of use — have a positive impact on visitor satisfaction. This research provides a new theoretical framework for understanding the experiential features of online VR museums, offering valuable insights for future online museum design and enhancing visitor experiences.
