Comparative Analysis and Improvement of RWPM
Xiaojuan Liao, Miyuki Koshimura · 2025
This chapter helps the reader to quantitatively compare the rule relation-based WPM (RWPM) and agent relation-based WPM (AWPM) for solving the coalition structure generation (CSG) problem in marginal contribution networks (MC-nets) from both theoretical and experimental views. It comprehensively compare the numbers of Boolean variables and clauses in these WPM encodings. The chapter presents a more compact encoding by refining the transitive laws in RWPM. It conducts a series of comparative experiments to demonstrate the advanced performance of the WPM encoding with refined transitive laws (RWPM-RT). All the encodings were tested on a 2.0 GHz quad-core Intel i7-4510U processor with 8 GB RAM. Compared with RWPM and AWPM results, RWPM-RT significantly enhances the efficiency of solving the CSG problem.
