Security in The Quantum Age: Side-Channel Attacks and Countermeasures in Post Quantum Cryptography
Areesha Nadeem · 2024
This study examines the critical security challenges posed by quantum computing, with a focus on the susceptibility of cryptographic systems to side-channel attacks (SCAs).As quantum capabilities advance, established cryptographic approaches face significant threats, necessitating the development of post-quantum cryptography (PQC).Specific use cases, such as securing financial transactions, protecting critical infrastructure, and ensuring confidentiality in defense communications, highlight the areas where PQC and SCA resistance are indispensable.Experimental analysis reveals a 30% reduction in power-based leakage in noise-enhanced Ring-LWE encryption, validated through controlled simulations and real-world setups. To pave the way for quantum-resilient infrastructures, this study emphasizes actionable strategies such as noise addition and algorithmic diversification as critical countermeasures.
