With the increasing pressure of peak shaving in power systems, gravity energy storage system (GESS) has shown great potential for application for its simple principle and wide applicability. However, few researches on the comprehensive evaluation method for GESS have been conducted so far. To carry out multidimensional and all-round evaluation, this paper focuses on the application scenario of power grid peak shaving first and establishes an evaluation index system considering three aspects: regulating performance, operating energy efficiency and system reliability. Then, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Anti-Entropy Weight Method (AEWM) are used to determine the subjective and objective weights of each index. Meanwhile, the combined weights are determined based on the theory of consistent subjective and objective attributes. Finally, based on the principle of matter-element extension model, the grid-integration performance evaluation level of GESS is obtained. The feasibility of the proposed comprehensive evaluation method is verified based on real operation data of GESS in Jiangsu Province.
