Using Software-Defined Tenant to Improve Network Adaptation in 5G Core Networks

Pang‐Wei Tsai, Nian Xia, Tzu-Ying Fang, Hsiao-Han Huang, Chu-Sing Yang · 2024

Since the number of mobile network users are getting growth at a fast pace, more and more real-time and instant interaction applications of user equipment require high-quality 5G transmission. To satisfy diverse conditions from time-to-time, network service providers have to gain control capability to contribute to those innovative requirements. Hence, this paper proposed an idea of using software-defined networking (SDN) with tenants to improve scheduling and coordination. It splits management functions to different regional controllers for distributing cost, enabling load balancing, and allocating tenants. By leveraging SDN to enhance the flow control in 5G core network, this research introduced a reference design that aims to increase the network quality and stability.
