Improved Public-Key Searchable Encryption Scheme for Cloud-Based Responsible Gaming Systems

Juanjuan Huang, Yizhao Zhu, Xiangqian Kong, Shengnan Xu · 2024

The rapid evolution of cloud computing technology has significantly impacted various sectors, including gaming, by providing scalable and efficient solutions. Responsible Gaming (RG) Systems encompass frameworks and tools aimed at fostering safe and ethical practices within the gaming industry. These systems are designed to safeguard players from potential gambling-related harms by implementing various strategies and technologies. To ensure the privacy of gaming data, sensitive personal information within RG systems must be encrypted before being uploaded to the cloud server. However, this encryption process alters the original structural characteristics of the data, posing a considerable challenge to the effective and flexible utilization of RG systems, such as plain-text keyword searches. In light of the privacy and practicality concerns surrounding RG Systems, this work presents a novel cloud-based RG system that integrates public-key encryption with a keyword search (PEKS) scheme. This approach only allows authorized users to search for specific keywords within encrypted gaming data while maintaining the highest data security standards. Our approach does not require a secure channel, which reduces communication overhead and fully leverages the cloud server's extensive storage capacity and computational power to enable flexible and effective search functionalities. Additionally, our solution effectively mitigates the risk of online keyword-guessing attacks from outside adversaries.
