By processing data closer to where it is generated, edge computing increases response times and saves bandwidth. But it poses important data aggregation and privacy concerns. This chapter presents an algorithm named Blockchain-Based Secured Aggregation (BSA) that focuses on solving these problems leveraging blockchain technology, Homomorphic Encryption (HE), and Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC). Data integrity and privacy are protected by the BSA algorithm using HE which enables encrypted computations and SMPC that enforces secure aggregation without exposing individual data. Blockchain offers a way to store information in an immutable way and to manage access through transparency, by using smart contracts. The evaluation of the performance indicates that the BSA algorithm is both efficient and scalable. System throughput reaches up to 121 transactions per second (Tps) at a send rate of 1000 Tps, with transaction latency under 9 seconds at high volumes.
