The Agent Approach to the ETL Task

The extract transformation load (ETL) process is an important element of the database (DB) and data warehouse designing. The article proposes the use of the multi-agent approach to build software for supporting the ETL. The agent requirements are formulated too. The description of the typical software architecture of a multi-agent system for supporting the ETL process is provided in the article. The multi-agent system is given as an example. Agents support the task of cleaning up the data. The data are English words in this example. There are Russian letters in these English words. These letters are visually indistinguishable from English characters. The multi-agent system looks for these letters in the text of the test example and replaces them with English characters.
