This chapter comprehensively examines the security needs of multi-modal tele-health systems, explores existing solutions, underscores successful methodologies, and provides a detailed analysis of key security protocols. It discusses the viability of modern approaches to achieving optimal security measures considering the potential of blockchain-powered zero-trust security (ZTS) for telehealth-enabled patient monitoring systems (PMS), outlining processes and a roadmap for the implementation. The chapter assesses the current prevailing telehealth-enabled PMSs with respect to the security scenarios and finally recommend the best available solution for PMS. The traditional signature based security is upgrading to machine learning (ML)-based context-aware firewalls-based security. Emerging technologies such as blockchain, ML, software-defined networking, and cloud computing offer promising solutions for enhancing the security and reliability of telehealth systems. Implementing a secure telehealth-enabled PMS requires careful planning, implementation, and ongoing operations to be aligned with the ZTS.
