Designing Conversational Agents to Empower Active Aging
Stefano Valtolina, Paolo Zanotti, S. Mandelli · 2024
Senile dementia is a growing healthcare concern, highlighting the need for cognitive stimulation in individuals with mental decline. This study presents an innovative web-based dashboard to identify and address cognitive decline in elderly patients. The toolkit includes patient profiling, treatment planning, and real-time cognitive monitoring, aiming to intervene early in the onset of mental deterioration, often missed during sporadic assessments. A conversational agent (CA) tailored for older people facilitates natural cognitive exercises and allows geriatric professionals to monitor cognitive abilities remotely. This CA ensures continuous monitoring and early detection of cognitive changes. The study evaluates the efficacy of these tools in enhancing care quality, fostering independence, and promoting overall well-being among older adults.
