Shielding Effectiveness Analysis of DVD Recorder Enclosures
S.B. Worm, L. L. Kanters · 2004
A DVD recorder is a typical example of a modern consumer electronics product with high speed digital processing, which means that additional shielding will usually be required to make the product compliant with legal and functional EMC requirements. The traditional shielding analysis methods that are based on material properties or small apertures are not relevant in this case, because the wide DVD inlet offers an effective coupling path for EM fields. In this paper we apply several techniques to investigate the shielding behaviour of such enclosures, i.e. one analytical model, two full wave numerical models and two measurement options. Good agreement over a large frequency range has been achieved between simulations and measurements of an empty enclosure with an internal test source.
