Novel Approaches in Game Engine-Based Content Creation: Unveiling the Potential of Neural Radiance Fields and 3D Gaussian Splatting

Łukasz Mirocha · 2024

This course provides a comprehensive overview of two groundbreaking solutions for capturing and reconstructing real-world objects and locations: Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs) and Gaussian Splatting (3DGS). NeRFs and 3DGS have revolutionized the field of computer graphics by enabling the creation of high-quality 3D models from images, photos, and videos. The primary goal of this course is to bridge the gap between rapidly evolving computer graphics research in NeRFs and Gaussian Splatting and creative communities interested in near-production-ready pipelines centered around generalpurpose game engines (e.g., Unity and Unreal). The focus will be on showcasing several codeless or minimally coding pipelines that are designed for users without deep technical expertise.
