In today's digital landscape, ensuring information security is paramount, particularly when it comes to safeguarding digital images stored on hard drives or transmitted over networks. Encryption stands as a fundamental measure for preserving privacy and shielding confidential image data. However, encrypting entire images can often lead to extended computational time, presenting a challenge for real-time applications. Partial image encryption emerges as a solution, focusing solely on encrypting the necessary portions of an image to be protected, thereby significantly reducing computational demands. In this context, we propose a block-based partial image encryption technique. Leveraging the Henon Map, we randomly select and encrypt image blocks based on specified encryption requirements. Fine-tuning the encryption level is achieved by adjusting the control threshold value. Experimental findings demonstrate a notable reduction in encryption time compared to full image encryption, positioning this method as a viable alternative for real-time applications. By enhancing security while minimizing computational overhead, this approach offers a promising avenue for securing digital images in dynamic operational settings.
