In this progressive world, integrating advanced technologies into healthcare is essential, mainly through implementing electronic health records (EHRs), which enhance service quality by consolidating demographics, medical histories, medications, and laboratory reports. Despite the benefits, this transition introduces significant privacy and security challenges, including data breaches from unauthorized access. This paper reviews cloud-based security solutions for safeguarding EHRs. It explores technological approaches such as encryption, cryptographic techniques, blockchain technology, AI-driven security mechanisms, and deep learning-based denoising systems. It emphasizes the need for robust security protocols, regular staff training, and compliance with industry standards to maintain data integrity and confidentiality. Emerging trends like 5G and IoT integration present real-time monitoring and data transmission opportunities but require advanced security frameworks. Future research directions include quantum cryptography and quantum-resistant algorithms to address evolving cybersecurity challenges. By adopting these technological advancements and comprehensive security measures, the healthcare industry can ensure the safe and efficient management of electronic health records.
