Constituting the ongoing quest for adaptation: concluding remarks

Guilherme Pratti · Edward Elgar Publishing eBooks · 2024

The book concludes by making a threefold contribution to the conversations on the question concerning law and technique. First, by purporting that law is what constitutes both the modern and the contemporary technique phenomena. Second, by identifying the rationale of the contemporary technique phenomenon as enacting a search for the best adaptational means among all domains, therefore giving form to a qualitatively different layer of law on the globe. Third, by envisioning the most imminent challenge of the present time as the composing of a sustainable (inter-)legality. In sum, the book argues that climate change is, ultimately, a legal challenge, and that shifting the direction of law - and, consequently, of the contemporary technique phenomenon - is the great adaptation of our age.
