The present research is focused on the development of an ultrasound imaging system based on a single-element configuration with distributed electrodes. The aforementioned process was conducted by regulating the activation of the constituent elements for the purposes of transmitting and receiving, with the assistance of a switching circuitry. The physical movement required by the single element with coding mask scenario in the previous study was addressed by the proposed scenario. In this work, we propose a single transducer with distributed electrodes by investigating the number of elements for transmitting and receiving. To enhance image resolution, we applied a weighted frequency subbands compound to the aforementioned model. The results demonstrate that the weighted frequency subbands compound was an effective approach to improve image resolution, as evidenced by the experimental data using the wire target and human carotid artery.
