A Feature Engineering Approach for Detecting Phishing Emails

Phishing detection is a well-studied problem, yet no universal solution, applicable in all scenarios have been found. The current research tries to leverage recent breakthroughs in the Machine Learning field, by extracting advanced features from suspicious emails. The classical features, extracted algorithmically from the email headers and body are augmented with expert features extracted by Large Language Models that are fed the email text. All these features are used in multiple Machine Learning classifiers, obtaining Accuracies and AUC scores above 90%.
