The use of blockchain technology in investigating financial crime and economic fraud in the last decade has reached an exponential level. In all Information Communication & Technology (ICT)-based devices, whether it is a chain of Web of Things (IoT), cyber-physical systems, high performance computing (HPC) devices, or an individual system that is being used either as a tool or as a target for executing financial frauds, blockchain leverages the jurisdiction&s;s easygoingness while supporting the major element of the verifiable form of evidence collection incorporating its unique approach. Traceability, recovery of the key, isolation restoration, immutability, robust authentication, identification, preservation of entities, etc. are the common characteristics that have been used in this research study to classify the use of blockchain technology in digital forensics. This chapter presents a classical review of the use of blockchain technology on different parameters comprising investigation, analysis, audacity, traceability, etc. where blockchain is used, and along with it, it talks about the challenges and limitations of the ongoing technologies and IoT-based BCT-supported frameworks used for this purpose. This chapter also brings out the gray areas that need to be addressed. This work aims out the classical review of all methodologies of BCT for digital forensics and talks about its current status too.
