Data Acquisition and Instrument Control Resources

Gordon Silverman, Howard Silver · Modern Instrumentation · 2024

Modem computer-based integrated instrument systems include some means for converting the physical and/or chemical property to be measured into a form that lends itself to further processing by the computer; normally the form is some binary-coded representation of the measurement. In addition the computer may be required to control various aspects of the experimental and/or manufacturing environment. This chapter includes discussions of how such conversions are accomplished and what is needed to control devices and instruments external to the computer.
