Use of Metal_Bonded Composite Polymers for Improvement of Screening Efficiency for Field Measurement of Small Signals

R. N. Basu · 1979

Electromagnetic Interference plays a critical role in determining the sensitivity and success of test and control operations in noisy environments. The available shielding in the detection systems often fail to be adequate and have to be improved/repaired on site. A rapid and economic solution may be found in such cases by an in-situ application of a metal screen with the help of cold-bond polymer materials. The author has been using cold-curing polymers, both rigid and flexible, which have versatile bonding ability to a large number of engineering materials. These materials, ranging electrically from semi conductor to good insulator, have proved to he useful in different types of in-situ shielding jobs. Some of the materials and techniques involved in the successful use of metal-bonded composite polymers for in-situ improvement of screening efficiency are discussed.
