A New Earth Resistance Measurement Method Using a Resonant Circuit

In this paper, a new earth resistance measurement technique has been proposed. The technique is to evaluate an earth resistance for earth electrode by measuring the loop impedance at the resonant frequency, which consists of impedances for the earth electrode, return metallic plane and lead wires. From theoretical and experimental results, it was found that the earth resistance of earth electrode can be obtained by the loop impedance at the resonant frequency. Some experimental results showed good agreements with those of the conventional measurement method.
