NEW ENGLAND CHAPTER met on November 1 at Nashua, NH, and saw/heard a demonstration of the IBM graphic display system presented by William Bernstein, Sanders Associates; and also enjoyed a tour of the Sanders Manufacturing and test facilities. MINNESOTA/ST. PAUL CHAPTER on November 30 heard a talk at the 3M Center by Dr. Lockwood W. Carlson about the new 3M electronic office printer. This is a novel non-impact imaging system based on Magnastylus electronic imaging technology. Part of the SID Los Angeles Chapter audience who saw the Versatec demonstration on November 28. SAN DIEGO CHAPTER members on November 14 were entertained by a presentation entitled “Lasers Imaging for Graphic Arts” by Dr. S. Thomas, Digilab, Inc. MID-ATLANTIC CHAPTER on November 7 enjoyed a discussion by Andre Martin, Director, Display Tube Programs, Thomson-CSF Components Corporation, Dumont Division. The meeting was held at the Dumont plant in Clifton, NJ, and this CRT manufacturer sponsored dinner for SID attendees. Title of Martin's excellent presentation was “High Brightness Color CRT Displays and Comparisons of Beam Penetration, High Resolution Shadow Mask CRTs.” On December 5, this Chapter heard about the new Eidophor from Len Blascovich, CONRAC; also about commercial CRT projection systems from Pat Gambutt, PSI president.
