Neural and Neuro-Fuzzy Control Systems
Philip D. Picton · 2024
This chapter tries to explain how neural networks are being used in control systems. This is still very much a research area and most work is being done on simulations rather than on real applications. However, neural networks, either on their own or in conjunction with fuzzy systems, appear to have great potential to control systems where traditional control has failed, in particular, in the automation of systems where, at present, the only way of controlling the system is to use humans. Neural networks and fuzzy logic are able to emulate the way in which humans appear to think, and therefore provide a way of substituting the human with an automatic controller.
