Nowadays, the increasing size and the high integration rate of space systems make the control of the electromagnetic compatibility more and more difficult. New engineering tools are then required in order to anticipate and overcome potential EMC problems, as early as possible in the design phase. To match this ambitious goal, the TDAS-EMC (Test Data Analysis System for EMC) engineering framework has been developed by MATRA MARCONI SPACE for the European Space Agency (ESA-ESTEC). TDAS-EMC is articulated around a database management system, which enables engineers to classify EMC test data, specification and simulation results. Advanced prediction tools are embedded into TDAS-EMC to tackle EMC aspects on complex systems, for both conducted and radiated coupling modes. After a brief introduction, TDAS-EMC is described through its applications made on space systems.
