A Method of Obtaining Occupancy Data for Trunking Systems in the Radio Frequency Spectrum

P. Vaccani · 1987

The Canadian Department of Communications has bean using for a number of years, Mobile Spectrum Monitoring Systems to gather occupancy data in the radio frequency spectrum for individual frequencies. During the past few years, trunking systems for mobile communications in the radio frequency spectrum have been introduced. A method, utilizing the existing system was required to obtain a consolidated indicator of the utilization of the trunk grouping or system of the associated RF frequencies which better characterizes such systems. This paper will discuss the design alternatives, describe the main characteristics of the selected alternative, and the results obtained.
