Software-Defined Radio Wireless Communication Technology Design. MIMO 4×4 Mode Configuration

Nikita Sheremet, Grigory Fokin · 2024

This article is dedicated to the design, assembling and laboratory testing of the Software Defined Radio (SDR) layout for the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) 4×4 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) mode. State-of-the art analysis is followed by the description of assembling of a pair of two-channel Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) B210mini SDR boards into four-channel MIMO 4×4 layout. Time and frequency synchronization is implemented through standalone precise time server Metronome-PTP-1U. This device acts as a source of 1PPS (1 pulse per second) time stamp and 10 MHz frequency standard, which are distributed to a pair of B210mini SDR boards through Metronome-T translator.
