The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in cybersecurity presents significant advancements in threat detection, response, and overall system protection. However, this rapid development brings forth critical ethical and legal challenges that need to be addressed to ensure responsible and lawful AI deployment. This research explores the ethical implications of AI in cybersecurity, focusing on privacy and data protection, bias and fairness, accountability and responsibility, and transparency and explainability. It also examines the legal landscape, reviewing existing regulations, emerging standards, intellectual property rights, and liability issues. Through comprehensive analysis and case studies, the research identifies several key findings: AI-driven cybersecurity systems can enhance precision in threat detection but often lack transparency, potentially leading to bias and accountability issues. The study also highlights a gap between current legal frameworks and the pace of AI development, necessitating adaptive regulations.
