ADMET and Physicochemical Assessments in Drug Design
Ulviye Acar Çevik, Ayşen Işık, A. Karakaya · 2024
The process of discovering new drugs is complex and rewarding in equal measure. Processes that emphasize a targeted approach based on the knowledge and technology that are currently available are included in the design of drugs. Drug discovery can be achieved through the strategic and prompt decision-making process of synthesis. It offers a comprehensive and cohesive overview of multiple components of the ADMET sciences (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity) in a concise and easily understandable summary format. More and more, physicochemical screens are used in drug research to quickly learn about the important factors that affect ADMET properties, like absorption, clearance, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity. Furthermore, discussed are the following important physicochemical properties: partition coefficient, acid–base properties and ionization, solubility, polymorphism, molecular weight, and the number of hydrogen bond donors and acceptors. These characteristics must be included in the compound design to increase the likelihood of discovering a compound with improved ADME qualities.
