Characterizations of SEP elements in a ring with involution

In this paper, wemainly give characterizations of SEP elements in terms of equations. In addition, some conditions involving powers of group and Moore-Penrose inverse are proposed to characterize SEP elements. Finally, we construct univariate equations, use the consistency of the equations and the solutions to the equations to characterize SEP elements.
