This chapter presents a brief description of blockchain technology. It describes the healthcare sector, exploring its particularities and the contribution of using blockchain technology in the medical sector. Blockchain technology is an emerging technology full of promise for various sectors of the continuously connected society. There are different types of blockchain, generally classified into three categories: public blockchain, private blockchain and consortium blockchain. e-Health systems can be accessed by several actors: patients, doctors, insurers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and governments. Blockchain offers several services. The integration of blockchain into healthcare services offers numerous opportunities to improve the quality of care. One of the main advantages of blockchain technology is its transparency. The traceability of operations carried out on data is a crucial aspect in e-health systems. Blockchain technology offers an effective solution for ensuring this traceability functionality. Blockchain technology offers a solution for secure data sharing.
