The Security Architecture Based on Blockchain for Peruvian Commercial SMEs

Gilma Baca-Pompa, Victor Benites-Reyna, David Mauricio · 2024

Peruvian SMEs in the commercial sector face increasing vulnerability in their data security, highlighting the lack of effective measures to protect sensitive information. Therefore, this study proposes a blockchain-based security architecture for SMEs, ensuring the immutability and transparency of data, thereby mitigating the risks associated with the manipulation or leakage of confidential information. This architecture consists of 8 layers (Client, Application, Data, Blockchain, Communications, Control, Physical, and Network). For the proposal, it was implemented in a commercial sector SME in Lima, and a perception survey was conducted with 5 security experts. The evaluation results, carried out using the Likert scale, highlighted that the proposed architecture stands out for its high ease of implementation and its ability to improve efficiency in digital asset management, as well as its effectiveness in reducing security risks. The proposed architecture comprehensively ensures information security for commercial SMEs.
