Application for Secure Password Self-Service Management in Local Active Directory (AD) Environments
Álvaro Zavala · 2024
The Windows Server Active Directory (AD) in a local environment (on-premises) works as a Domain Controller, one of the most important services it provides is the authentication of users. The AD on-premises does not provide mechanisms for local self-service user passwords and is a major feature needed in a help desk service. There are companies that provide these services, but at high implementation costs and annual subscriptions. Therefore, this paper proposes a web application that enables the self-service of user passwords reducing costs considerably and making the process more practical and convenient for end users and system administrators. It must also provide security guarantees in the handling of sensitive data such as passwords, tokens, emails, which are included and discussed.
