The main and auxiliary equipment information of traditional substation is presented in a two-dimensional logic, with low degree of sharing, resulting in ineffective linkage between the main and auxiliary equipment, and the operation and maintenance mode is relatively lagging, making it difficult to meet the development needs of smart grid. Regarding the above-mentioned problems, A design scheme of digital twin system for substation based on BIM technology was proposed. The scheme uses the BIM model of substation and the real-time sensing data of monitoring system and auxiliary control system to build the mapping body of the realistic substation in the virtual space, namely the substation digital twin system, which makes the complex and abstract equipment operating information easier to display and more intuitive, and improves the digitalization and transparency of substation operation and maintenance management. It improves the panoramic real-time perception ability of operation and maintenance personnel on substation equipment and environment in a three-dimensional virtual environment. It can realize the functions of three-dimensional panoramic monitoring of substation, intelligent early warning, data statistical analysis, remote intelligent patrol, intelligent linkage between main and auxiliary systems, intelligent analysis, intelligent control and security control. The substation digital twin system has been widely used in the new 110kV and above smart substations in Shanghai power grid, which verified the effectiveness and advancement of the system.
