The main objective here is to accurately localize delayed responses (DRs) to deep brain stimulation. The DRs are expected to originate from the interictal epileptiform discharge (lED) sources. Therefore, before the localization of DRs, we exploit the similarity between consecutive IEDs in designing a robust distributed localization system to identify the epileptogenic brain zone more accurately. The proposed beamformer exploits the morphology of lED and DR signals as a constraint in its formulation. The beamformer is then applied to a cortical EEG electrode array (a.k.a mat). It is demonstrated that it is highly likely for an epileptic subject that the IEDs and DRs originate from the same location in the brain. Therefore, to identify the seizure source, it is possible to localize well-controlled DRs instead of relying on IEDs, which may not be frequent.
