Extended Reality (XR) has shown immense potential for providing immersive learning experiences. However, several challenges regarding XR accessibility and authoring deter its widespread adoption and effective use. In this paper, we expose these challenges and introduce two kinds of partnerships to guide the instructional design of XR learning experiences, focusing on inclusivity and accessibility. We first discuss an inclusive instructor-learner participatory design approach to the instructional design of accessible XR. We then explore the use of generative AI to reduce the need for XR technical expertise among instructors, using an example from dental education.
