Our journey into the world of pentesting PT begins with understanding our mission’s context, objectives, and methodological frameworks. This chapter describes the basic concepts of PT and its various methodologies, standards, processes, and tools. The chapter also discusses the legal framework for penetration testing, particularly the Rules of Engagement (RoEs). RoEs establish the limits and objectives of penetration testing, which must be agreed upon by all parties concerned before testing commences.
