In an era defined by pervasive digital connectivity and escalating cyber threats, cybersecurity has become a paramount concern. Foundational models serve as the bedrock of cybersecurity strategies, offering frameworks for threat analysis, risk assessment, and mitigation. This chapter presents a comprehensive review of existing foundational models, ranging from rule-based systems to advanced machine learning algorithms. It explores their effectiveness in addressing evolving cyber threats and discusses emerging trends, such as the integration of language models and artificial intelligence.
