The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) represents a transformative evolution in intelligent transportation systems, interconnecting vehicles through advanced communication networks. However, this connectivity introduces significant cybersecurity risks that threaten the safety, privacy, and functionality of IoV systems. This chapter presents a systematic review of the current state of cybersecurity in IoV, synthesizing findings from a comprehensive analysis of recent literature. We identify key vulnerabilities, such as communication protocol weaknesses, software and hardware susceptibilities, and potential attack vectors. Furthermore, we evaluate the existing security measures and frameworks, including encryption techniques, intrusion detection systems, and blockchain-based solutions. By highlighting the gaps and limitations in current approaches, we propose future research directions and potential innovations to bolster IoV cybersecurity. This review aims to provide researchers, practitioners, and policymakers with a detailed understanding of the cybersecurity landscape in IoV, facilitating the development of more robust and resilient vehicular networks.
