In an increasingly interconnected world, the security and integrity of identity management systems have become paramount concerns. Biometric systems represent an innovative response to these challenges, offering advanced and reliable methods for authenticating individuals. However, the security of these systems relies heavily on the protection of data and associated transactions. In this context, the adoption of blockchain technology is particularly relevant. Blockchain technology integrates decentralization, distributed computing, asymmetric encryption, hashing, timestamping, and the principle of consensus. It allows information to be stored and transmitted in a secure, reliable, and transparent manner. This work examines the benefits and opportunities offered by the use of blockchain in the field of biometric identification.
