This project proposes the development of an innovative IOT-based system aimed at enhancing the mobility and independence of individuals with mobility impairments through an automated wheelchair obstacle detection and navigation mechanism and using an LDR sensor for optional manual control and fail-safe. The system leverages the Internet of Things (IOT) concept to create a seamless and efficient solution for real-time obstacle detection and avoidance. The key objective of this project is to design and implement an affordable smart wheelchair system that can autonomously detect obstacles in its path and navigate around them, ensuring the safety and convenience of the user. The system employs sensor technologies and communication protocols to achieve this goal. The proposed system aims to address the challenges individuals with mobility impairments face by providing a reliable, adaptable, and intelligent solution. By employing IOT technologies, the project enhances the wheelchair’s capabilities and accessibility, contributing to the user’s overall quality of life and independence. The overarching goal of this project is to develop an affordable automated system that is meant to help older adults and people with different disabilities live on their own without needing a constant supervision of a related ones to perform daily tasks.
