Spyware or Adware

Mary Ann Bell, Bobby Ezell, James L. Van Roekel · 2024

Information may be gathered from the computer of an Internet user without his or her consent. The information is gathered when a small software program that collectively goes by the term spyware or adware is placed, often without the user’s consent, onto his or her workstation. The program is frequently delivered to the computer through the installation of freeware, shareware, or program updates, but the program may be added to a workstation by simply going to a certain Web site.
