In the modern digital environment, a wide range of crucial services and enormous amounts of sensitive data are hosted online. This paradigm includes platforms for social networking, e-commerce, cloud storage, financial transactions, and much more. To prevent unauthorized access and data theft, it is crucial to protect data during transmission. A fundamental method, called cryptography, is essential to protect data confidentiality and integrity while it travels across enormous networks. This paper examines cryptography for encoding-decoding data and performs a comparative analysis of cryptography techniques based on various parameters. The parameters include- Encryption time, Decryption time, Resistance to Quantum attacks, and Key length. We compare six different cryptography techniques-Advanced Encryption Standard(AES), Triple Data Encryption Standard(3DES), Rivert Cypher 4(RC4), Rivest-Shamir-Adelman (RSA), Elliptical Curve Cryptography (ECC), and ElGamal and analyze them. Out of all these techniques AES and ECC are found to be most suitable for the protection of data.
