Software-defined networking(SDN) is another technique used in networking, which involves the use of software-based controllers or application programming interfaces that are used to communicate with underlying hardware infrastructure in a network and manage traffic. In a very different approach to traditional networks, effective domain-wide traffic routing and management are achieved by separating the control and data planes in SDN. It can be architecture for communication that combines network programming with centralized administration. In SDN, control planes and data planes are decoupled, while the management of a network is centralized in a controller—a programmable device that acts as a 'brain' of a network. In contrast to traditional networks, SDN separates control and data planes, provides efficient domain-wide traffic routing, and management. Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming quite popular in the area of SDN. It investigates how AI and machine learning methods can be integrated to design, protect, and optimize novel networks.
